The Educator is responsible for engaging all guests and providing educational tours in the aquarium. Their role includes promoting Shark Reef's conservation initiatives through a variety of educational programs, assisting management in developing new guest engagements, and the development of staff members.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Welcome all guests and engage the public through a variety of educational programs. Educating about the various species, habitats, and promotes Shark Reef's conservation mission, goals, and objectives, creating a positive guest experience for all.
Demonstrate full proficiency in exhibit interpretations, conduct VIP/private tours, all grade level school field trip tours, ambassador animals, and animal encounter programs. Assist with guest dive programs, including leading tours, tending dives, and aiding with setup/cleanup.
Maintains both public and animal safety by monitoring visitor behavior, correcting where necessary, advising supervisor and/or animal care of abnormal situations.
Assist in creating new educational guest engagement opportunities.
Attend programs related to promotional and educational initiatives as assigned including partner expos, and educational fairs, or school days.
Train new staff to ensure all educational information is correctly and consistently provided to guests, and in responding to guest questions and concerns.

Education

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KSAs
Possess the ability to adapt in a constantly changing environment with large groups of people, new animals, exhibits or situations
Possess excellent communication skills with an emphasis on the verbal presentation of information to groups of diverse individuals
Memorization of scientific information about marine and terrestrial animals, habitats, and conservation initiatives
Knowledge of aquarium applications and/or basic Biology
Excellent guest service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms
Ability to work independently and in a team
Basic knowledge of computer software to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and office equipment (telephone, copier, scanner, etc.)
