The Executive Director of Catering provides overall strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of property, industry-leading luxury meeting and event operations, specializing in catering, group dining, hospitalities and weddings, including strategic planning, leadership, financial performance and development of staff. This position develops and executes strategies that maintain property competitive advantage within the market and maximize revenue.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Provides leadership to the Catering, Group Dining, Hospitality and Wedding Sales teams through consistent communication,  coaching, administration, education on departmental goals, ensuring the buy in and support of all team members to impact the  success of the department, and creation of synergy between these teams and the Convention Services, Sales and Banquet  departments.

Accountable for monitoring Catering and Banquets financial statements, reporting forecast and pace, delivering direction in the  development of the department’s budget, aligning with short and longterm strategic objectives, and driving the maximization of  revenue through development of food and beverage offering selection and pricing structure.

Engages in sales strategy to maximize revenue and mitigate risk through effectively reviewing the availability of space and  implements marketing strategies to target off peak dates, the negotiation and monitoring of definite contracts, the writing of catering  discount clauses, cultivation of client relationships and direct catering management of a minimum of two groups per year.

Develop and maintain brand standards through curation of progressive and trendsetting food, beverage, and venue offerings, participation in the property's sustainability initiatives, and effective partnership with Brand Marketing and garner maximum revenue.

Hold team and self accountable for adherence to property guest service and brand standards by refining service standards and  modeling professional and modeling internal and external guest interactions.

Owns the execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of the department, proactively assessing, modifying, and  standardizing processes and systems to optimize efficiency and improve the guest experience.

Takes responsibility for the division’s Human Resources responsibilities for assigned department(s) to include creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction; quality hiring, staffing level evaluation, training and succession planning processes that encompass the company’s diversity commitment.

Strong strategic planning, project management skills and superior decisionmaking while managing multiple priorities.

Excellent customer service skills.

Able to lead and mentor a team.

Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
