The Senior Engineer, Platform Economics is responsible for developing and managing the cost management practices and tools of technology infrastructure and related software. This role is essential in understanding and managing the cost efficiency of our infrastructure by closely working with finance and technical teams. The Senior Engineer is expected to possess excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills necessary to effectively collaborate in impart positive fiscal change with key stakeholders across the organization.

Provide subject matter expertise in all FinOps aspects of cloud and platform services.

Collaborate with technology teams to incorporate cost management best practices across platforms via tagging, alerting and configurations that supports financial monitoring, alerting and forecasting.

Develop and oversee cloud & platform billing dashboards to track, manage and optimize operational expense.

Maintain a dashboard that provides secure self‐service capabilities to all TDD teams on cloud & platform spend.

Work alongside stakeholders to understand their spending patterns in relation to their business objectives and allotted budget.

Develop and maintain relationships on a regular cadence with cross-functional teams to enable better cost management and influence business decisions.

Watch over platform consumption at detailed levels to identify, analyze, and interpret unusual activity or trends.

Analyze data to derive insights that can guide strategic and operational decision-making.

Design, build, and maintain reporting tools and KPIs to provide detailed statistics on resource usage across platform services.

Take on the automation and integration of processes to enhance the team's data accuracy and reporting methods.

Support business case development, cost modeling exercises, and the assessment of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required

5+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience

Developing and operating infrastructure, public cloud environments, finance or IT infrastructure / platforms role

Required

Experience using cloud cost management & advisory tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Advisor, Honeycomb) is highly desired.

Required

Previous experience working with vendors and performing contract analysis.

Required

Prior working knowledge of the pricing and consumption models in at least one of the major public cloud providers and experience with market leading cloud cost products (e.g. Flexera RightScale).

Preferred

Certification in FinOps practice or related disciplines.

Preferred

Proficient with MS Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and presentation preparation.

Comprehensive understanding of cloud and datacenter services, software and infrastructure.

Strong understanding of technical software engineering concepts.

Ability to learn various computer systems quickly.

Familiarity with public/private cloud, SaaS, productivity, end user, datacenter and network platforms.

Familiarity with infrastructure pricing structures and offerings.

Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills to handle complex data analysis tasks.

Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with large-scale and high-visibility projects.

Independent worker with a focus on producing high-quality, outcome-oriented results.

Innovative thinker with the ability to implement process improvements and automate workflows.
