The Legal Counsel Labor and Employment, in collaboration with others on the team, will provide legal representation on labor and employment matters, including advice and counsel, administrative charges, litigation and arbitration matters. Principal Duties & Responsibilities | Prepares responses to and represents MGM Resorts International and subsidiary organizations in administrative charges, complaints and claims filed with federal and/or state agencies (e.g. EEOC, DOL, OSHA) and in complaints filed with federal, state, or local courts. | Provides labor and employment legal advice and counsel to Corporate COEs including Corporate Labor Relations and Corporate Human Resources, property Human Resources and Labor Relations teams, and to assigned business units. | Collaborates with all stakeholders to ensure legally compliant labor and employment related policies, procedures, standard forms, plans and related materials and provides advice on the interpretation, implementation and administration of policies and procedures relating to labor and employment matters. | Performs legal research and drafts memoranda and other legal documents regarding labor and employment matters; provides guidance on compliance with, and interpretation of, applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. | Manages outside counsel, including invoice review and monitoring compliance with billing guidelines, and provides updates to insurers as needed. | Provides advice on the interpretation, implementation and administration of collective bargaining agreements at assigned properties; collaborates with property labor relations partners and corporate labor relations COE to review and/or draft memoranda, policies, procedures and legal documents related to CBA compliance and/or resolution of disputes under CBAs. | Represents the Company in traditional labor matters including labor arbitrations, NLRB unfair labor practice charges and representation proceedings, and collective bargaining as requested by Labor Strategy. | Provides sound, well-reasoned legal advice to all internal business groups; develops and maintains strong business relationships among the various internal business groups requiring legal support. | Demonstrates leadership and team-working skills in support of a collaborative environment. | Exercises discretion and independent judgment commensurate with specialized legal skills and experience. | Supervises paralegals and staff on work assignments. |
