This includes oversight of category management teams that define market segmentation, supplier strategies, and innovation pipelines, as well as sourcing teams that execute tactical supplier engagement, negotiations, and contract management. This role drives value creation through cost optimization, supplier collaboration, risk mitigation, and sustainability while ensuring alignment with business priorities and enterprise-wide procurement goals. The VP is a trusted business partner to internal stakeholders and a leader of high-performing teams focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement. Principal Duties & Responsibilities | Define and lead comprehensive category strategies that optimize total cost of ownership, innovation, risk, and supplier ecosystem value. | Conduct market and supplier landscape analysis to identify trends, disruptions, and opportunities. | Develop long-term category plans that include supplier segmentation, value creation roadmaps, and sourcing roadmaps. | Lead category management teams to identify strategic sourcing opportunities, supplier consolidation, and emerging market trends. | Partner with business stakeholders to align category strategies with operational and financial objectives. | Drive sustainability, diversity, and ESG goals within category strategies and supplier engagement. | Oversee sourcing teams responsible for the tactical execution of procurement activities including RFx management, supplier negotiations, and contract finalization. | Ensure sourcing practices comply with governance standards, procurement policies, and regulatory requirements. | Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize value and mitigate risks. | Foster strong supplier relationships to promote collaboration, innovation, and service excellence. | Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing, diverse team of category managers and sourcing professionals. | Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and customer focus. | Set clear performance objectives, conduct talent reviews, and implement succession plans. | Provide leadership development opportunities and succession planning within the organization. | Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration to drive innovation, cost savings, and quality improvements. | Lead contract negotiation strategies in partnership with sourcing and legal teams, ensuring competitive terms and risk mitigation. | Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and drive corrective actions when needed. | Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on indirect spend strategy, risks, and market dynamics. | Collaborate closely with Legal, Finance, Risk, and Compliance to ensure contract integrity and risk mitigation. | Partner with IT and Operations to implement technology solutions that enhance sourcing efficiency and analytics. | Integrate sustainability goals, ESG principles, and responsible sourcing practices into category strategies. | Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks including geopolitical, environmental, and supplier financial risks. |
