The Senior Manager, AI-Enabled Engineering is responsible for building, leading, and developing a high-performing engineering team that delivers consistently through AI-augmented workflows while maintaining quality, security, and reliability. This role partners cross-functional stakeholders to drive predictable delivery and continuously improve AI-enabled engineering practices across the team. The Senior Manager will manage 3–5 direct-report engineers (hiring, career development, performance management, and coaching) and oversee contingent workers by setting expectations and ensuring work output and quality.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure the team delivers on sprint and quarter commitments with quality and reliability

Partner with Product Management and Design on roadmap planning, estimation, and trade-offs

Own team health across engagement, learning velocity, on-call rotation, and technical debt management

Drive engineering practices within the team, including code review, testing, CI/CD, and observability

Build AI fluency across the team by ensuring every engineer uses AI tools daily and reviews AI output critically

Shift from manual PR review to sampling and systemic quality checks using AI-generated metrics

Recalibrate estimation by understanding which work types AI accelerates (2–5x) and which barely change

Evaluate performance based on judgment quality, architectural decisions, and AI curation skill—not lines shipped

Coach engineers through the AI transition: from “best coder” to “best AI-augmented problem solver”

Ability to manage people, including hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent

Ability to provide AI-augmented quality oversight by using dashboards and metrics, not just manual review

Possess a fundamental understanding of AI-aware estimation calibration, including AI’s variable impact on different work types

Ability to apply outcome-based evaluation by measuring decisions, defects prevented, and architecture quality

Ability to drive cross-functional partnership with PM, design, and QE
