We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager of Data Governance to lead our enterprise-wide data governance and metadata management initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for defining, operationalizing, and scaling data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. You will lead the Data Governance Council, drive data stewardship across business and technical domains, and own the strategic deployment of metadata platforms, such as Alation and Databricks Unity Catalog. The ideal candidate is a champion for data intelligence who can bridge the gap between IT and business, ensuring our data assets are discoverable, trusted, secure, and fully leveraged to drive business value.

Data Governance Council: Chair and manage the enterprise Data Governance Council. Facilitate cross-functional alignment on data policies, prioritization of governance initiatives, and conflict resolution regarding data definitions and ownership

Policy Development: Define, implement, and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance

Roadmap & Strategy: Develop and execute a multi-year data governance and metadata management roadmap aligned with the broader Data Insights organizational strategy

Stewardship Program Management: Establish and mature a robust Data Stewardship program. Identify, onboard, and train business and technical data stewards across various departments

Culture & Literacy: Drive a culture of data accountability and data literacy. Promote the adoption of governance practices and tools through continuous education, communication, and change management

Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary escalation point for complex data quality and governance issues, working with stewards to implement root-cause solutions

Technology Platform Ownership: Oversee the enterprise adoption and operational management of the Alation data intelligence platform or similar tool. Drive metadata curation, data dictionary completeness, and utilize its AI capabilities to enhance data discovery

Unity Catalog Integration: Lead governance strategies within Databricks Unity Catalog, ensuring proper access controls, data lineage tracking, and seamless integration between Unity Catalog and our broader metadata ecosystem

Architecture Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineering and IT teams to ensure governance tools are seamlessly integrated into the data architecture and that automated governance checks are embedded in data pipelines

Bachelor's Degree

Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field

Required

7+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience

Data management, data analytics, or data engineering, with at least 3+ years in a dedicated Data Governance leadership role

Required

Platform Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience managing and scaling in a complex enterprise environment is required. Alation and/or Databricks Unity Catalog experience is preferred

Governance Frameworks: Deep understanding of data governance frameworks, data stewardship models, master data management (MDM), and data quality methodologies

Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and lead a Data Governance Council, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive consensus without direct authority

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical data concepts into clear business terms

Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., Profisee) preferred

Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) preferred

Industry certifications in Data Management or Data Governance (e.g., CDMP) preferred
