Job Profile Title: | Aquarist I | Job Code: | 14687 | Profile Title: | 14687 Aquarist I | Grade / Band: | 06 | FLSA Status: | Non-Exempt | The Aquarist I role is an entry-level position for a candidate with limited to no experience in the aquarium field that has a strong desire to work in the industry. This role will assist with all day-to-day duties of the Aquarium Department. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with the Education and Life Support teams. This role will also be responsible for achieving the goals and objectives of the aquarium, which will be consistent with the goals and objectives of the property. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations and ordinances as well as corporate and departmental policies, practices and procedures. | | | | | |
Principal Duties & Responsibilities | Assist the curator and lead aquarist in the husbandry and life support of aquarium systems and daily care of animal exhibits | Participates in specimen transports | Monitors and maintains water quality in exhibits | Prepares diets, feeds the animals and cares for exhibits in accordance with established protocols | Maintains accurate daily records for aquarium systems and exhibit specimens | Interacts with guests, management, veterinarians and other individuals |
