The Collections Clerk performs computer data processing, clerical and other related functions. It is the responsibility of the Collections Clerk to obtain and verify pertinent information related to collection efforts on past due balances while providing excellent guest service.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Contacts guests with delinquent accounts to collect gaming debt, by telephone and mail and establishes payment schedule.

Researches, prepares, and mails statements, advisement letters, and payment commitment letters to guests with credit line balance or delinquent account, as appropriate.  Sorts and files correspondence.

Investigates financial status and ability to pay through various databases and records information.

 

Monitors collection activity, recommends accounts be referred to collection agency or written-off.  Reviews accounts recommended for write-off and assesses potential for collection.  Provides recommendations to Director, Cage Operations.

Assists with coordinating the processing of payments received by the Cage, General Ledger, or other independent department and posted to the proper guest account by the Cage department.  Establishes new collection accounts and maintains existing collection accounts within internal systems.

Maintains awareness of suspicious activities to prevent and identify potential fraudulent account actions.  Provides recommendation for account holds and maintains confidentiality of all information.

Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management.  Notifies supervisor, senior management, and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.

KSAs

General knowledge of mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Knowledgeable or familiar with legal terminology

Able to accurately record and enter pertinent information into the legal database

Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms

Ability to read and write proficiently to evaluate reports, correspondence and statistical information

Proficiency of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine

Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular attention to detail

Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills

Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
