It is the primary responsibility of the Buyer to own the end-to-end lifecycle of purchase orders within their categories, as well as to  perform off-program purchasing activities within their spend categories. This role will interact regularly with members of the  Purchasing, Program Management, Strategic Sourcing internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure the efficient purchase of  supplies and services. Buyers must demonstrate a strong understanding for the assigned spend categories, supplier landscape,  internal stakeholders needs and purchase order management.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Execute ordering for on-and off-program spend to ensure business needs are met with a high-level of customer  responsiveness

Negotiate off-program saving opportunities per the off-program purchasing plan and ensure off-program purchases do not  happen for on-program products; prescribe corrective action when appropriate

Demonstrate a proficient understanding of managed programs to maximize the percentage of spend on program and limit  the amount of off-program spend

Meet established expectations of captured Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) such as PR to PO conversion time, PO  percentage beyond due date, Open POs, PO to Invoice price and quantity variance resolution, manage invoices pending and  item creation

Execute free-form purchase requisitions, conduct bid process; inclusive of supplier selection - to include certified diverse  supplier, where applicable, negotiations and award of purchase order

Leverage data analytics to identify opportunities for reoccurring items to be created or added to a catalog

Ensure quality service and best-available price on goods and services in an ethical manner, without compromising quality

Support electronic filing system and methods of documentation of purchasing activity to enable and satisfy an  audit/inspection or industry regulating standards

Leverage understanding of the customer, industry, key business drivers and managed spend programs to make informed  decisions when selecting suppliers, products and services off-program

KSAs

Working knowledge of hospitality and/or casino operations.

Apprised of product/service markets as they affect Procurement policy within assigned spend vertical(s).

Ability to communicate effectively, concisely and logically in a timely manner and at an appropriate level, while maintaining  confidentiality

Proficiency of procurement systems (Stratton Warren, and Coupa) and computer software to include Outlook, MS Word,  Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine

Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular  attention to detail

Effective listening abilities with strong judgment and collaboration skills

Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
