The Director of Communications serves as an on-the-record spokesperson and day-to-day media liaison to elevate the media presence of the Property by building and leveraging relationships with the press. Principal Duties & Responsibilities | Develop and execute strategic communications and media relations strategies and tactics to enhance awareness and support for MGM Resorts' programs, including sports betting, partnerships, and key business activities, ensuring alignment with broader corporate and property objectives | Serve as official on-the-record spokesperson as assigned, responding quickly and accurately to a wide range of media inquiries by phone and email, providing timely, well-articulated answers. Prioritize and filter media requests, escalating where necessary. Provide counsel on media relations, oversee media interactions to include scheduling and coordination of media interviews and press conferences, and manage press opportunities to ensure consistent, accurate, and impactful messaging. Prepare and distribute press releases, memos, talking points and interview responses, as well as press kits, timelines and fact sheets for internal and external stakeholders | Drive media relations strategies, develop and manage media lists, cultivate key journalist relationships, manage media relations pages, and proactively pitch story ideas to elevate the property and company presence and reputation. Using established monitoring tools, track all media hits and maintain and share records of press coverage; which may require hour-by-hour tracking during times of emergency/crisis | Lead internal communications initiatives, working closely with property leadership and Human Resources, as well as the Internal Communications CoE, to develop and execute campaigns that promote business needs and enhance employee engagement through strategic content delivery | Create and deliver content for internal messaging to include email blasts, newsletters, memorandums, presentations, organizational announcements, etc to promote key initiatives ensuring alignment with MGM Resorts' business goals and corporate culture while maintaining consistency across various communication channels | Collaborate with Property leadership to support communication requirements to ensure messaging is cohesive across divisions and provide guidance on media interactions, crisis management, and spokesperson development | Represent the Property in internal and external communications meetings with Corporate teams to ensure all communication strategies and initiatives are aligned with corporate governance and global communications standards |
