It is the primary responsibility of the Director of Risk Management to provide risk control and guidance to mitigate exposures to the the properties and venues they support.   The Director is also responsible for the handling of low complex general liability claims to ensure quick resolution on site of the same.  The Director will collaborate with the MGM Resorts International Risk Management claim teams to support ongoing claim adjustment and litigation management of general liability, auto liability and workers compensation claims related to the above locations.  


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Must create a personal presence on property to include regular walks of the locations identifying hazards that could give rise to exposures and claims against the properties and provide immediate communication and recommendations to the property to resolve as well as create strategies for long term resolution and decrease the frequency and severity of third‐party injuries and losses

Build relationships across all functions with leaders and key stakeholders and participate in these department meetings in order to remain aware of ongoing property activities and new activities such as special events and new retail and restaurant establishments to ensure proper contract language around insurance and indemnification is in place and collect and maintain insurance certificates

Conduct daily review of security reports to identify incidents that may result in a general liability claim against the property or the filing of a workers compensation claim by a Company employee.  Follow up requires investigation, securing information, documentation and witness information and implement tactics to resolve matters on site in a speedy manner

Collaborate with the MGMRI Claims teams and Company insurance carriers and outside counsel on all claims and litigated matters arising from claims including investigation, document and evidence retention, discovery preparation, providing testimony as a Company witness and communicating financials to the Property executive team

Prepare and perform risk assessment plans for large scale events venued in the arena and convention center.  From time-to-time attendance at these special or large events will be necessary for on-site claim resolution

Act as liaison with the Company's property insurers' risk engineering team to coordinate and participate in site inspections, follow up meetings and steering implementation and resolution of any recommendations by the insurer loss engineers

Be available at all hours in the event of an emergency at any of the locations
