The Race & Sports Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Race & Sports operation. The Manager creates and maintains a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, and employee development and satisfaction. The Race & Sports Manager manages all functions within the room to include ensuring all employees provide high standards of customer service and manage conflict resolution appropriately. The Race & Sports Manager ensures all duties are performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices and procedures.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Interviews, auditions, and evaluates all applicants for Race & Sports Department. Facilitates the hiring process in the most efficient and effective manner.

Conducts routine needs assessments, identifies areas to refine training and development of departments employees.

Provides employees with feedback and counseling as needed regarding work performance, attendance and adherence to all Company policies and procedures as well as government regulations.

Manages departmental training programs to include policies and procedures, Title 31, Regulation 22, new game  procedures, and any other training required to bridge skills gap.

Ensures Race & Sports employees maintain compliance with all required trainings and certifications.

Coordinates with Marketing and Advertising departments on all departmental activities and related communication with  management of the social media.

Effectively communicates with all Race & Sports employees through daily update meetings, departmental meetings, postings and other forms of communication to ensure team is well informed of department, property and company information. Manages the scheduling of Race & Sports personnel and ensures the schedules are based on business need.

Communicates any needs or concerns with the Shift Managers, Directors and Company Race & Sports book operations.

Develops implements and maintains guest database records as they relate to tournament entries, tournament winnings,  cash game play, and ensures these databases accurately reflect guest play.

Act as a Liaison between the legal Department and any outside agencies seeing player information in a lawful manner.

Assists with research, development, evaluation and implementation of new technology and processes to ensure the  company maintains a competitive position within the industry.

Partners with other departments like Human Resources, Accounting, Surveillance and other departments to ensure  compliance with company policies and procedures are being met and followed consistently.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

KSAs

Complete knowledge of common rules and procedures of all games, and general knowledge of Gaming regulations and statutes.

Excellent communication skills and ability to handle problem situations in a professional and courteous manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with all business contacts.

Must have e working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Race & Sports operations and current industry trends.
